KERALA ITINERARY

Exploring: Kochi- Munnar-Thekkady- Kumarakom-Alleppey – Kovalam- Trivandrum

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Kochi (By Flight)- TBA

Morning board your flight for Kochi. Upon arrival at Cochin Airport, transfer you to your hotel in Kochi.

Cochin, the queen of the Arabian Sea, is one of the most interesting cities of India and has one of the finest natural harbours in the world.

A root-conscious people of Kerala have preserved their past not only in the form of history books but also in the form of monuments and palaces. Places, palaces and institutions of historic value are being preserved conscientiously.

Day 2: Kochi - Munnar (approx... 4 hrs. drive)

Morning after breakfast drive towards Munnar around 4 hours, this is a place where the unfolded green carpet is waiting for you. Munnar is breathtakingly beautiful, a haven of peace and tranquillity – the idyllic tourist destination in God’s own country. Munnar is the gateway of Hills in South India.

Munnar was the favoured summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. A walk along the tea plantations will refresh your mind, body and soul.

Day 3: Munnar sightseeing

After breakfast proceed for a sightseeing tour of Munnar, which includes visit to Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, and Echo point. You will also visit the Rajamalai where the rarest species of mountain goat, ‘Nilgiri Thars’, can be spotted, and the Tea Museum (Closed on Mondays for visitors) which has been built in the Nallathanni estate of Tata Tea.

 Its collection of memorabilia and artifacts takes you back in time when the tea industry had just begun to make its presence felt in Munnar in 1880s. Browse the museum for its array of curios, photographs and machineries, each depicting important events that contributed to a flourishing tea industry.

Munnar is a real hill resort having absolute green cover under misty scent of tea leaves all around, with crisp fresh air and the weather delightfully cool all the year round. Stroll in any direction and the whole world of tranquility and serenity entices you.

Day 4: Munnar- Thekkady (4 Hrs drive)

After breakfast depart for Periyar (Thekkady). Morning drive through the Western Ghats to Thekkady, a beautiful area of tea gardens, rubber estates and coffee and pepper plantations, located high in the Cardamom Hills. This wildlife sanctuary is an established tourist spot and home to elephants, tiger, bison, sambar, wild boar, langur etc.

In the afternoon you will proceed for a Spice Plantation visit and also enjoy a Boat ride at Lake Periyar where you will also be able to view the wildlife.

Day 5: Thekkady to Kumarakom (approx. 5 Hrs drive)

Morning after breakfast proceed to Kumarakom. On arrival check in at resort in Kumarakom
Kumarakom – The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and this small water world is part of the Kuttanad region – the granary of Kerala.

An unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves – interspersed with enchanting   waterways and canals with white lilies Afternoon free for independent activities at the hotel.

Day 6: Kumarakom to Alleppey (approx. 5 Hrs drive)

At 10.30 am, you will be driven to Alleppey and board the beautifully decorated houseboats and begin the enchanting backwater cruising. The backwaters of Kerala is a unique product of Kerala and there isn’t anything like this anywhere in the world.

Glide through the still and tranquil waters as you enjoy the serenity of this amazing part of India.  

Overnight stay at Deluxe Houseboat.

Day 7: Alleppey – Kovalam (04 Hours drive)

Morning at 09.00 am, check out from the Houseboat and drive to Kovalam.
Kovalam, the world-famous beach destination of Kerala. With three adjacent crescent beaches, Kovalam has been a favorite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s.
A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse – sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes, etc. The tropical sun acts so fast that one can see the faint blush of coppery tan on the skin in a matter of minutes. Life on the beach begins late in the day and carries on well into the night.

Evening free to relax at the resort.  Tickle your taste buds with the local seafood specialties which come fresh from the fishermen’s nets around.

Day 8: Kovalam- Trivandrum

Afternoon proceed for a sightseeing tour of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, is just a stone throw away from Kovalam and getting there is no hassle.

Thiruvananthapuram has interesting places to see like.

The Napier Museum, the Sri Chitra Art Gallery, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Puthenmalike Palace museum.

Day 9: Trivandrum – Delhi (By Flight) TBA

After breakfast check out from hotel & proceed to Trivandrum airport on time for return journey to Delhi
